School Holidays

School closes on Friday, 11 September 2026, and reopens on Monday, 28 September 2026. School will close at 12:10 PM on Friday, 11 September 2026.

Reports

Reports for Term 3 will be handed out on Friday, 11 September 2026. Reports will not be emailed unless specifically requested.

School Calendar for October

Foundations, and those not registered for external exams, will continue with the timetable as normal.
Those who are writing external exams need to book as many extra lessons as possible during this time.
Doing past papers and not handing them in for marking is counterproductive and unhelpful.
Those writing externals do not need permission to leave early on the days that they are writing external exams.
Students are expected to attend school on days that they are not writing external exams.

There has been a direct correlation between those who reach their full potential, because they handed in past papers and attended school during exams, and those who don’t fare well, because they stop attending school after September.

External Art Exams

The art exam is scheduled for the week of the 26^th to the 28^th of October 2026. Student portfolios must be finalised by the 15^th of October 2026.

The IGCSE art exam will be on the 26^th and 27^th of October 2026. The first sitting will be for 6 hours, the second sitting will be for 2 hours.

The AS art exam will be on the 26^th, 27^th, and 28^th of October 2026. The first and second sitting will be for 6 hours each, and the third sitting will be for 3 hours.

The art exams, for IG and AS, start at 09:00. Students must please be at the exam venue 45 minutes before the start of the exam.

Times for Externals

When there is a clash, e.g., two exams have been scheduled for the same time, alternative arrangements will be made by the exam venue, and exact times will be given.

An exam timetable has been attached to every Statement of Entry that was sent out by Andrew’s Academy, and students have been given a physical copy of the timetable with their exact exams highlighted.

Ending times for exams are static, most exams end at 11:00 AM or 15:00 PM. Exception to this rule is for ‘Art and Design’.

Please note, for external exams:

School uniform is compulsory
Students are required to have their stationery in a clear bag
Students must have their Statement of Entry and I.D/Birth Certificate at every exam
Students must be at the exam venue 45 minutes before the start of the exam

Lifts for Exams

Please organise everything timeously or let the office know if your child will need transport to the exam venue.

Fun Day

Please note that the planned excursion, to Northgate Ice Rink, has been cancelled, due to negative feedback from students. Any money that was paid will be refunded.

To ensure that our learners still have an enjoyable, and memorable, day, the school is organising a Fun Day for the 4^th of September instead. Note that attendance is compulsory.

Students will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of games, in teams, in order to win their team a stash of water balloons, as the day will end in a water balloon fight!

Cost for entry is R50.

Some examples of the games planned are:

Cup Stacking
Scavenger Hunt
Egg-and-Spoon Race
Water Relay
Colour Run

Food and Coldrinks will be available on the day (boerewors rolls, samoosas, brownies, fudge, Pepsi, Marinda, Mountain Dew). Prices to follow.

Students are encouraged to wear comfortable, casual, clothes, with a hat and sunblock.

School will start at 08:00 AM and end at 12:10 PM on 04 September.

Staff News

We say a fond farewell to Ma’am Luca, from the end of September. She will be pursuing her studies full-time next year. We wish her all the best. She has been loved by all and will be sorely missed.

Ms Cindy Bunger will be joining us from the 1^st of October.

Ms Durand gave birth to a healthy baby boy on the 18^th of August 2026. Congratulations!

General Information

There will be no Cycle Tests in Term 4. School will end at 12:10 on Fridays.
If you are planning to enrol any siblings for 2027, please request/send in an enrolment form.
If your child is leaving at the end of the year then a term’s notice is required, i.e, from the 1^st of October. This does not apply to matriculants.
